1. CVS will stop selling Tobacco products in all locations by October
CVS, the closest convenience store to UMCP will be banning the sale of cigarettes, potentially putting themselves through billions of losses in annual revenue. I want to see how this big corporation's change will impact the local College Park community. I plan on interviewing both CVS workers who could experience potential pay decreases and see how it would effect them, current college park smokers and asking if they think this will help curb their addiction, and at least one medical professional. The purpose of this story will be to have the people affected by CVS' cigarette ban will either benefit or be victimized.
2. Facebook to launch Paper
Facebook is launching a new app that helps sync news stories around the world with personal stories from Facebook friends. I plan on interviewing the co professors that lead the business in journalism class., as they help teach on how to be successful with new journalism technology. I also plan on interviewing committed Facebook users that depend on social media for news consumption, and see if they plan on using the app. The purpose of this story will help shed a better light on the ramifications of this new application, and whether or not it will revolutionize the way people consume news on mobile devices.
